Very busy at Rye and with the carnival right next to the pier it didn't get any quieter in the evening either. There were also two vessels tied up to the jetty, one was the Enterprize which is a twin masted replica ship that brought the first settlers to Victoria. There were lots of kids jumping off the pier and a few fisherman as well.
It was nice and peaceful under the pier which was a pleasant change from the chaos above and with the two vessels there it gave the site a new dimension. Within minutes we saw two very large stingrays under the pier, but then they disappeared and we didn't see them again.
There were a lot of fish about and the large school of yellow-eyed mullet was still there but unfortunately no sign of the wobbegongs. Perhaps with all the activity they moved to deeper water for some peace. There is an unconfirmed report that someone has speared one of them recently under the pier.
Another great dive, next one planned for Jan 13th.
