It was dark and gloomy under the pier with very poor viz, it couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 metres with a bit of surge as well. We were hoping to find some weedy sea dragons to photograph for my daughters school project.


There was a lot of suspended weed etc in the water and schools of leatherjackets would find themselves right up against my mask before realising I was there!

Sas's plan to wrap me up in a long strand of kelp went awry when she found herself tangled in it. Had I known her plan at the time it might have influenced my decision to help untangle her!

We did manage to find a couple of weedies at the end of the dive after giving up hope and despite the condition managed a couple of half decent photos between us.
